Seminar Description:

This seminar is designed to provide anyone engaged in specifying or selling AC Drives with important and relevant information. Advance your knowledge of AC drive systems. Beginning with an overview of AC and DC electrical theory and relates the theory to AC drive and motor operation.

Get answers to questions like:

  • Is there really such a thing as an "Inverter Duty" motor?
  • Can I use a "standard" 60 Hz motor with an AC drive?
  • Why should you avoid use of "high effeciency" designed motors with AC Drives?
  • Why are NEMA design A motors bad when used with AC drives?

Learn how to sucessfully gain 50% additional motor torque, without any addtional amperage, by replacing an 1800 RPM motor with a 1200 RPM motor AND still achieve at least 1800 RPMs from the 1200 RPM motor (or even more).

Topics include:

  • AC & DC Electrical Terminology
  • AC Motor Theory
  • AC Drive (VFD) Theory
  • AC Drive Terminology
  • Examination of Major Drive Components
  • Choosing the Correct Motor
  • Benefits of Over-speeding motors
  • Typical Applications & Pitfalls

Basic AC drive circuitry is explained with discussion on the function and purpose of each major circuit and electrical component. Voltage and frequency relationships and effects on motor operation are introduced. Application considerations and common pitfalls are discussed along discussion of proper motor selection

Special note: This is the ONLY variable frequency drive seminar that is presented by James M. Shumberg, a recognized leader in the AC drive and electric motor industry. If you want the best this is the seminar for you.
